Airway Buffing Wheels – Red, Pink and White
Airway buffing wheels are designed for efficient, precise metal polishing. Their wave-shaped edges provide ventilation and reduce heat buildup. Depending on the wheel color and matching polishing compound, they can be used from coarse oxidation removal through to a mirror finish.
The center hole is 5/8 inch, approximately 16 mm.
Choose the right wheel for the job:
Red wheel
Use with black polishing compound for coarse polishing of stainless steel and harder metals. Good for removing scratches and uneven areas before finer steps.Pink wheel
Use with pink or green compound for an intermediate step on stainless steel. It gives a clean, even surface with a good shine before the final finish.White wheel
Use with blue or white compound for the final polishing step. Suitable for a high-gloss, mirror-like finish on aluminium and steel.
These wheels fit standard polishing machines with a suitable shaft and come in sizes that balance control and coverage. They are suitable for experienced users and for achieving professional results at home or in a workshop.
IMPORTANT: For safety, backing or center plates must be used. They are sold in sets of two and fitted one on each side of the buffing wheel to support it during polishing. They are not included with the wheel because they can be reused when the wheel is replaced.
REMEMBER: Polishing may be the most dangerous step in knife making. Work carefully and with control, and treat the equipment with respect.
Tip: For best results, use only one type of polishing compound per wheel; do not switch between compound colors on the same wheel.
