Plate for the end of the knife handle.

Can be glued or screwed in place, but the most common is that the end of the pliers goes out of the hole, and that this is riveted to provide a mechanical lock in addition to epoxy. It provides a very solid shaft and extra protection for the shaft material.

These are not flat, but slightly spoon-shaped/rounded.
