Damanox VG10 - Stainless Damask plate with a core of VG-10
Inkl. moms.
Finally, you can make your own knives from scratch with stainless laminated damask!
Realize your vision with 67 layers of damask, with a core of Japanese knife steel VG-10, known from premium kitchen knives, but this steel is produced at a Chinese steel mill.
The pattern you get comes in 4 variations.
We have large plates without embossing, and 3 smaller variants finished with a pattern.
Hardening
The steel is delivered unhardened and ready for drilling, filing and grinding.
Curing temperature 1050-1100 degrees
Tempering: 2x2 hours at 150-250 degrees
Tips and tricks
The steel has hardenable and good edge steel (VG10) surrounded by tough stainless steel that does not harden. This gives you the advantage of a hard edge and a tough blade. It also makes sharpening easy after hardening.
With thin blades, it is advantageous to do the sharpening after hardening because a thinly sharpened blade is very vulnerable to damage, excessive temperature or warping during heating and cooling.
Raindrop, Dragonskin, Beach and Laminar
The three patterns Raindrop, Dragonskin and Beach are embossed in a special press to slightly bend the steel layers so that the differences between layers are revealed when the knife blade is sharpened. Laminar is completely flat and smooth, and it is the basis for the other three unique patterns before pressing. You can use it as is for a topographic parallel line effect, or you can modify the pattern with a hammer or press to create your own pattern.
